i diss'd over 50 years ago--didnt believe in god--so all the rest was a waste of my time. Looking back a lot of it was laughable nonsense. The rest was seriously dangerous.

My decision.
by MissDaSilva ini’ve decided to disassociate from the jw organisation.
i cannot be part of a community that blatantly rejects the sacrifice of jesus in that demonic memorial ritual.
amazing what information you find when you start researching.. i’m writing my letter and posting it to the kingdom hall this morning.

So what happens next...
by Farmer Jim1 inwith what is arguably the biggest change to jw life in recent decades (the scrapping of publishers counting hours) what does this lead to?.
in my mind these are the results;.
1) a massive decrease in 'preaching hours'.

WT is more concerned about losing contributing members,
how very true:
When my late father went into a care home--he ( in effect ) changed to a different congregation area. Quite quickly--he got visits from elders in his new cong. They all knew each other.
But he also had visits from an elder from the previous cong. Not unusual..but it agitated my dad..who was very frail and senile by then. Talking during my regular visits to my dad he said he was worried about his "obligation", and i worked out what he meant.
He had a standing order paying his old cong £100 a month !----but as i held power of attorney i had stopped that on his behalf LoL

i think most people still in the cult are in it for the social life....the old religious god botherers have mostly gone to join him by now.

@Ding
Remember though that the writers of the New Testament were raised to heavenly life in 1918 and may have even actually helped the writers of the May 22, 1969 Awake article with the finer details.
eh ? i must be missing something here.

or--have a bit of fun with them. Tell them how worried you are--big energy bill coming up--say you cant pay it--burst in to tears as you plead with them to help you out with a loan--say £500 for now. Promise them you will pay them back...when you can.

Door to Door Witnessing Anxiety
by NotFormer init's not only the jws who do door to door witnessing.
the independent baptists for the most part have "soul winning", mainly door to door witnessing and leaving tracts, as a tennet of their faith.
this discussion is interesting:.

just spend an hour or so slowly writing a letter. put it in a plain envelope, forget to address it--then post it. No stamp required. Then count it as witnessing time

JWs And Superstitions
by NotFormer inprompted by a mention in a different thread.. cracks in the sidewalk, a pinch of salt over the shoulder, black cats🐈⬛; do jws have such superstitious beliefs.
are they allowed to?
would they be counselled if the elders became aware?.

oh christ--where do i begin !
my old mum was completely crazy. A converted JW that believed anything she heard...mixed in with old wives tales and black magic.
I grew up on a diet of demons--in fact i was terrified by it all.
Even my dad got in on the act. He was in other respects a deep thinking quiet clever man--but oh boy did he swallow all the demon stuff.
What chance did i have ?

consider door knocking as a test.
If any outwardly normal person can be persuaded to go out door knocking to preach their beliefs to strangers, then getting them to decline blood or shun their family is easy.
